Stacy Winter (Hammes) was raised in the Minocqua area and returned in 1996 after completing her Physician Assistant Master Degree. She considered herself fortunate to receive training and insight from many well-respected “old school” doctors, where she learned the essence of traditional family practice. For the first 16 years, she built a robust practice and reputation as a thorough, compassionate provider. However, corporate medicine created numerous challenges that were beyond her control; it was difficult to maintain an acceptable work-life balance while providing her patients their deserved care and attention. In 2011, Stacy decided to change course and transitioned to shift work in urgent/emergency care. Although she loves acute care, she still reminisces about the “good old days” in primary care.
At Nova Integrated Care, she’s better able to honor that legacy and provide personalized, quality care with an emphasis on patient and family relationships. Nova’s membership practice affords an ideal way to return to her roots and preserve the sanctity and trust of the traditional medical model. Additionally, Stacy is now able to focus her energies on special interests, including patient advocacy, coordination of care, and medication management.
Over the years, Stacy has embraced our amazing northwoods community. She served as an elected school board member, assisted in religious education, worked closely with area summer camps, taught high school health education, performed various volunteer projects, and mentored medical students.
Stacy and her husband John have a blended family of six grown children. As a family, they enjoy downhill skiing along with lake and cabin times. Stacy takes a personal joy in home decorating, antiques, cooking, kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking, traveling, live music and spending time with her “other” children (AKA dogs). She considers herself a true “Sconnie” and enjoys all things Wisconsin, especially attending local events and meeting new people. Community is everything to Stacy and she’s excited to meet and care for YOU!
